Guoyu Zhu

Guoyu (Derek) received a BS in molecular biology from University of California, San Diego (UCSD). In the Holley lab, he is studying the systems biology of zebrafish embryo tail bud elongation by manipulating cell signaling optogenetically and visualizing cell motion during embryo development using some biophysical methods such as FRET. In his free time, he listens to a fair amount of classical music , plays music, and extensively goes to concerts. He is doing an amateur study in classical music appreciation,  piano playing and improvisation, singing tenor and baritone, and raising the artistic quality of popular music from classical music approaches.
